TeamViewer 7 Beta

I got a news from TeamViewer because i used their product about the upcoming TeamViewer 7. It's still in Beta version, but i see some interesting feature in this release. Here are some of the new features in TeamViewer 7:

KDE 4.6 Beta 1

The development release of the future KDE 4.6 has arrived with Beta 1 release just now. This brings a new excitement towards developers around the world, especially when some people are celebrating Thanksgiving holiday.

The beta release will be a good milestone for developers creating KDE apps to prepare themselves before the final version of KDE 4.6 will be released in January 2011 (perfect timing for a new year celebration).

KDE 4.6 will be another release of KDE which tries to move away from HAL and will communicate directly with udev, upower, and udisk. This will be a great achievement as more and more application started to move away from HAL, for example XOrg.

I'm not sure whether this release will be included in the next Slackware release (13.2), but i think Eric will have it ready in KTown in case it's not included in Slackware 13.2.

Firefox 4.0 Beta 5

A new beta release for Firefox 4.0 has arrived. I'm actually not interested on testing beta version, but since it has been added in testing/ by Pat, i think there must be something interesting with this beta release, since usually Pat never put beta version even on testing.

By looking at the Release Notes, i can see a lot of work has been integrated on this beta. I'm sure when the final version has been released later this year, browser share will change again as more and more people will go back to use Firefox. I think the most problematic matter for Firefox is about their performance. So far, Safari and Google Chrome has done a great job of working on their performance, but not to Firefox. When they are able to solve this problem, i think their market share will increase significantly.

More Improvement on Next Skype

Skype has rolled out their Skype 2.1 beta release which incorporates many new features. This is good news, as some people said that Linux version of Skype was lacking compared to Windows version.

Here are some new feature in the latest Skype 2.1 beta release:

• High Quality Video support
• Skype's SILK audio codec
• PulseAudio support
• SMS sending support
• Chat messages editing/removing support
• Contact groups support
• Typing notification in chat
• Chat picture support (add/change/remove) for group conversations
• Mood messages are visible in contact list and tooltip
• Video/Mobile icons are visible in contact list
• Bookmarked Chats are visible in contact list
• Contact labels/tags

There are still many improvements which are listed on the Developer's Release Notes, so if you are interested, go get it and test it

Remember that this is still in BETA version and many known bugs have been spotted and also listed on the Release Notes, so if you are looking for a stable version, stick with 2.0.x for now.
