Windows 8 Features

Windows 8 will be released this year, but before that, it's good to know most of it's feature and see if you are comfortable enough with some changes introduced on this major upgrade.

PCWorld has written Windows 8: 13 Features Worth Knowing About and it gives you a summary of what's new in Windows 8 and here they are:
  • Fast Boot Up
  • Reset and Refresh
  • Windows to Go
  • Windows Store
  • Ribbon Interface
  • WiFI Direct Support
  • NFC Support
  • Native ISO Image Support
  • Side-by-side Apps on Tablet
  • ARM Processor Support
  • Windows Live Sky Drive Integration
  • Hyper-V
  • Revamped Task Manager
I think the biggest improvement is the WiFI Direct Interface which lets your device connect to other devices without using any Hotspot. It's like a P2P connection and it's similar to Apple's AirDrop

Here's a video from YouTube showing you the capabilities of WiFI Direct:

Another improvement that is worth is reset/refresh features which lets you Reset (go back to default install, lose all data and apps) and Refresh (return all settings to their default for faster and more reliable operation, but keep the data and apps). This simplifies users when they have problems with their computers or they want to give away their computer to someone else and clean up all the data inside the computer.
