Finally i got a chance to check my emails, but not replying (just to delete some of them, which were big enough). Thanks for all your attention who has wrote some comments on my Blog where i put my last post before i got totally knocked out. I got messed up in this few days, but things are going better and better. I'm in recovery mode right now and hope that in few days, i'll go back online and reply all emails, and do some other usual activities that i do as my daily activities.
Thank you for all of you who have gave your attention via my blog. God Bless You :)

Stereogram
One of my colleague bought some nice stereogram book and i tried to look on it to find the answer. I have tried this when i was a child, but i never made it so far, so i wanted to give it a try again this time, but too bad i couldn't make it again. There is a direction on how to do it, but i can't do it either. I think i have to find another solution to get this through, since i was very curious on how people can see the 3D images so fast without having any trouble at all.
I browse the Internet and found some website that discuss about this. One of them are 3DWonderStuff and it wrote some techniques that can be used to see the 3D images. I will read it more carefull and hopefully in the few days later, i can see the 3D images at the book.

Strange Shop
Yesterday i went to several places in north of Jakarta (Kelapa Gading area) and we had lunch at Sop Konro Karebosi (yeah, i have wrote that kind of story several weeks ago and i was coming there again yesterday with different person). Yesterday i went with Adi, Budi, Yuni, and Sherly (Budi's girlfriend). After having lunch, we went to La Piazza and Kelapa Gading Mall to hangout for a while, since were so full after having lunch at Konro.
In Kelapa Gading (i don't know which building is it, since it's huge and i'm not used to go there), there was some kind of small pool which you can throw some coins it it (just like the old story when if you throw some coins on the fountain, it will make your wish come true). There was some people who threw some coins from the second floor (or perhaps third floor) and they were warned by the security officer. We also heard one people shouting for several times (i think that it was a crazy guy since he was yelling that i didn't understand at all. He spoke very unclear). When we got into the second floor, i knew that the person that was shouting before was promoting his store, which was Daiso, a Japannesse shop which sold a lot of Japannesse items (as well as Indonesian) and they have same prices at seventeen thousand rupiah.
The strange thing was most of the people who worked there also shouting things in Japannesse which (i guess, because they said it in Japannesse language which i don't understand) saying that you can have all items in the same price. For some people (like myself), i got annoyed by that kind of sound if it was done repeatedly, but luckily after some time, they stopped shouting like that. What a strange shop.

Setting Up CVS Server
Today i set up the CVS server for the Indonesian Translation for OOo project. It was kindda confusing for me, as for Mandriva Translation project and OOo Documentation Project, the CVS Server has been setup by other person, and i only have to checkout the modules, but in this case, i should set it up and make it available for other developers (by adding member and granting them the sufficient permissions).
Luckily, it's done now and the CVS module is up. You can checkout it using :
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ooo-id login
cvs -z6 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ooo-id co -P ooo-id
I have set the web page also, but there's nothing on it right now, except for big "Under Construction" text on the center of the page. I haven't made the web page for now and i'm hoping that it will be finished as soon as possible and it will contain many information about the project and how to contribute to the project (it's kindda complicated for the first time).
For now, there has been 3 members (including me) and it will grow up as many people will start to contribute to this project. Let me know if you are interested with this project.

Starting a New Project
I have started a new project (ooo-id) on Sourceforge which will be the base for Indonesian version of OpenOffice.org. I need Sourceforge since it provides CVS access and that's what i need for collaboration projects. I know that OpenOffice.org has provided us with the CVS access also, but it would be nice if we can have another CVS repository while we use the Indonesian Native Lang Project as the gateway of the product itself. The project will try to translate the PO files of OpenOffice.org that will be used to build the Indonesian version of OpenOffice.org. It's part of the Native Lang project.
The project was registered yesterday and today it has been activated by the Sourceforge team. There are no homepages or anything, since i haven't set all those things (perhaps i will do it as soon as possible). The first thing that i would do is download the latest POT files of OpenOffice.org, update it to my local repository and try to upload it to Sourceforge and let's any developer who wants to join this project to update the PO files. When it finishes, i will try to submit the PO files to Pavel that will build the GSI files and build the Indonesian version of OpenOffice.org.
I hope that many people would like to join to this project and participate on it. Let's hope Indonesian version of OpenOffice.org will come out as soon as possible. If you have questions on it, please mail me, while i'm building the websites for the project.

Finished March's Training
Today, i have finished my training for March, and there will be another training and workshop in April, which will be about PSP (Personal Software Process) as the follow up for the previous CMM workshop that was held almost a year ago. It will be held in UKDW (Duta Wacana Christian University - my college). I got a chance to visit my home first, since i will be in Jogja by 10 of April and there will be a seminar at 12 of April about the PSP materials. I should attend this seminar as one of the representative for both side (UKDW and QnAp). My friends will arrive at 14 / 15 of April and the workshop will start at 17 of April and ended in 22 of April 2006. They will go back to Jakarta at 22/23 of April, but i will take a 3 day off to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday at 25 of April. I will be back to Jakarta at 26 of April. I hope i can meet a lot of my old friend at Jogja. It's also my chance to have a look at the new mall, Ambarukmo and Safir mall, since i didn't have that chance in my last visit in last December.
It will be a great workshop, since it discuss about PSP which will be used by many software engineer, so if you are a programmer or software enginner, or somebody who loves to make a program or involved in IT-related bussiness, i suggest that you should take this workshop also. It provide you a good base to start developing a software and make yourself a lot better than before. See the advertisement on UKDW building.
See you all in April. I'm looking forward to see all of you guys....

Upgraded to 2.6.16
Last night i decided to try the new shinny 2.6.16 kernel. I used my 2.6.15.5 config to make it work for my system and also some tweak on it (set the right processor type, enabling HIGHMEM feature and including all ALSA modules for sound support), but when i run make oldconfig, it gives me several questions about the new feature that has been added in 2.6.16. I know several modules, but most of them were uncommon for me, so i just add it into module and it worked for me. You can see my new Slackware look like in the new kernel on the screenshot. Here is my new config for 2.6.16 if you need some reference (it's basically built on Slackware, but it can be used in other distro as well, but if you need some special modules for some strange devices, please re-run the make menuconfig or make xconfig) :

Should I Upgrade?
Kernel 2.6.16 is here, with a bunch of updates (read the Changelog). On one side, it could improve the performance of my system, since it has fixed many bugs found between the 2.6.15 and 2.6.16 development cycle, but in the other hand, it may also cause some new problems (that's why i wanted to wait until the first stable version is released). I have spotted one of them, which has a relation with NVidia driver in LinuxQuestions. It has also gives the solution on it by browsing NVidia News and install the patches to fix this problem. Here are the solutions :
The patch attached to this post addresses known problems with the 1.0-8178 NVIDIA Linux x86 and x86-64 graphics driver releases.
To patch 1.0-8178 and install the updated driver, please follow the instructions for your platform below (the steps needed to update the -pkg* packages not shown are analogous to the examples shown below).
Linux/x86:
# sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8178-pkg1.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8178-pkg1
# patch -p0 < /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-8178-U012206.diff.txt
# ./nvidia-installer -n
Linux/x86-64:
# sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2
# patch -p0 < /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-8178-U012206.diff.txt
# ./nvidia-installer -n
Please note, that i haven't tried this by myself, so if you want to give it a try and give your comments here, it would be a nice news for me, since i don't have to hack my system to make it running back to normal condition.

My UIM Card Is Broken
Last night, i wanted to switch my SIM card in my handphone to the other UIM card, but when i turn it on, it displays an error message : Insert UIM Card. I was suprised, since the day before it was fine (even last morning it was fine). I suspect that it was because i put it in my wallet and being over pressed by the coins in the back of the wallet. Right now, i only have 1SIM card for CDMA and 1 UIM card for GSM. I will buy another UIM card when i got back home today.
I got a new lesson from this : Don't put your SIM card in a place where it has a possibility to be pressed by other thing, because it may (not always) damage the card.

Small Problem With Flickr
I have a plan to upload some picture of myself in my web hosting and i tried to use it for my Friendster, Blogger, and also for avatar in Indonesian Linux Forum. So far so good, until in one day, the domain was down and it couldn't be accessed for several days. Some of my other account got the impact of this, so i tried to find another free image hosting and i found Flickr, which is now owned by Yahoo!.
I tried to sign in using my Yahoo ID and it worked. I don't need to sign up and pick another account, but i can use my Yahoo ID instead (that's the good point. with only one single ID, i can access all Yahoo services). So i began to upload several pictures for my blog, avatar, and other services. Everything goes fine until yesterday i tried to upload a new avatar to replace my avatar in Indonesian Linux Forum. I uploaded a GIF file, because i need some transparent avatar so that it can be the same as the background color, so it can fit everywhere. But after i uploaded, it was converted to jpg, so that the transparency was gone and i tried this several times until i gave up. So the default format for Flickr is JPG, which doesn't support transparency.
I knew that i had to find another free image hosting which support my requirements, so i tried to use kupload and i tried to change it from GIF to PNG (why does this idea doesn't appear when i had problem with Flickr?). I tried to convert it to PNG and upload it to Kupload and it worked like a charm. Now i can use my new avatar. You can see it by viewing my profile.

Small Reunion
Tommorrow, i will hold some small reunion with my friends at college. We will meet at Taman Anggrek Mall at 12 (noon). Most of us have worked at Jakarta after we graduated in last November. I got my first job at September, but i started to work at October 2005 and this month, i will have worked for 6 months.
I don't have no idea what will we do tommorrow, since we have never planned it before. I was told by one of my friends that we are going to have a small reunion and that's ok for me, since i don't have any schedule for tommorrow also (i have fixed some of my remarks, which is easier than i thought before). Let's hope we will have a great reunion tommorrow.
PS: Markus, i'm sorry that you can't come along in this reunion, but i guess you are enjoying your new life in Holland :)

Another Remarks
Today, we (me and my other colleagues in my office) have received another remarks for our first modules which has been tested in real situation (the tester were children between 8 and 13 years old and some of them were visually impared or couldn't her perfectly). It has some remarks and it has been printed. I will get the latest version and i will finish some of it in weekend (in my spare time). I'm not sure i can finish it all, since it's too much, so i'll fix my part and it will be my top priority and if i have more time, i will finish other exercises also. It's quite complicated, since it's not mentioned in the scenario from the beginning and some of the remarks were quite different (if i can't say totally different) from the original scenario. We also have to test and deliver other modules as well, so we were working at different modules at the same time.
Next wednsday, our training will be finished and i hope our first module will be finished and fixed. I hope....

Some New Great Blog To Read
I have found some new blogs which (i think) should be read frequently, since it covers many things. It's included in Antony Pranata's website. He has some blogs : Mobile Blog, Personal Opinion, and Personal Life. He is a software engineer working in the mobile phone industry (NOKIA). Currently, He currently lives in Vancouver, Canada, but he was originally from Indonesia (Magelang). I used to bought his books (it's about programming books, mostly in Pascal). He has wrote several books and his explanation was clear enough for common students/person. I still keep his book up to now at my house in Jogja.
He has lived in several countries, including Germany (where he finished his MSc degree), Canada (where he lives now), and has been travelling to several countries as well, such as China, HongKong, and United States (perhaps there were more) and got a lot of experience which he has wrote some of them in his blogs. It's nice to have such kind of information from a person who has travelled around the world.
I got many new information by reading other people's blog, so i think it's good habit to read as many blog as possible, as you will gain a lot of knowledge, information, gossip, and rumors around the world. Last year (perhaps this year also), blogging has been heavily increasing and most people has started to have their own blog (either by registering in free blog, such as Blogger and Multiply or by making a new blog using some Blog application, such as WordPress).
So.. what are you waiting for? Start blogging and spread as many information as you can to the world by writing it your blog. VIVA BLOG... :D

Problem Raised After Update
Last night, i download all the -current updates in Slackware's repository (besides the 2.6 kernel, since i'm find with the 2.6.15.5 kernel that i build). When i got home, i started by updating the NVidia driver first, since it will require the same GCC version that was being used to compile the kernel and i want to upgrade my GCC, so it's best to upgrade the NVidia driver first. After the installation is complete, i upgrade all packages in -current package (except for kernel 2.4 also, since i'm quite happy with 2.4.31 and 2.4.x kernel was only used for rescue mode when 2.6 kernel was having some problem).
When i rebooted my system, i got some strange error message, saying that MySQL has been started and in two seconds, it ended again. GDM also display some weird error messages saying that the /var/lib/gdm didn't existed. I had to restarted my system and log into textmode. I checked the directory and it was there. I hacked my system for a few hours trying to solve the MySQL and GDM problem and finally i got the solutions. Reinstall MySQL and GPM could solve the problem. I don't know why reinstalling GPM solve this problem, but it works as it is. Perhaps it's because the installation will set the permission again. It also works for MySQL.

Kaskus Radio
I have just found a new online radio station, KaskusRadio, which was sponsored by Kaskus, the biggest Indonesian Forums. It has a streaming facility which can be used by anybody only by using Windows Media Player or Winamp. You could also request a song (if the DJ is online and if they have the songs). You could also find some song lyrics on the site. If you look for Chinnesse songs, search for DJ BuCil. He usually plays Chinnesse songs. For the other DJ, they usually plays Indonesian songs. (That's what i know from my friend, Rosi).
Too bad streaming isn't a good ways to hear a music in Indonesia, since we lack of bandwidth, not like in other countries, where they have gigabit connection and they are cheap. Let's hope in the future, Indonesia will have cheaper rate for Internet connection.

Opera 9.0 Fully Passes ACID2
Based on the Slashdot's article which i saw today, Opera 9.0 has passed ACID2 Test which was developed by the WebStandards project and vendors to test page and ensure proper support for web standards in every browser product (that's what people expected). Opera has just become the second browser after Safari to be able to pass completely the famous ACID2 test. You can read the detailed description in this link.

What won’t be in PHP 6
It's a hot topic that makes me post twice a day (i usually only post once a day). It's about what will not be available on PHP6. I read this topic while i'm updating my RSS client and the SitePoint section has been updated with a bunch of updates, including this topic. I browse the Internet and i opened up the link and read Harry Fuecks' article : "What won’t be in PHP 6". I followed some link and i found Minutes of PHP Developers Meeting, which was held at Paris November 11th and 12th, 2005 (it's kindda out of date, but it can give some notes about what's happening in the PHP6 development process). Some major conclusion was the removal of the Register Global, Magic Quotes, Safe Mode, and Deprecated Behaviour.
Here is the result if we use these kind of settings in the next PHP6 (taken from PHP Developer's meeting) : an E_CORE_ERROR will be thrown by the PHP engine when it detected the register_globals setting.
I think it's a good idea, since most of security attacks comes from those things, but it will make developer's work even worse, because they will have to change big parts of their code to make it compatible with PHP6 and with older PHP version (if they want to support it also). Let's just wait for the final release of PHP6.
