Even though i have abandoned
Mandriva since 2005 (because it didn't work on my laptop at that time that turned me to
Slackware), i still believe that Mandriva is one of the most simple and easy to use Linux distribution. It has simple installation that takes care everything for you (like any major Linux distribution). It also has most of the bleeding-edge packages (sometimes they even include beta version).
In the next several months, Mandriva is ready to launch their Spring version (2008.1). What's new within this release? Quite a lot actually. Here's some of them
- KDE 3.5.9 (with 4.0.2 is available in /contrib)
- GNOME 2.22
- XFCE 4.4.2
- PulseAudio Sound Infrastructure
- Linux Kernel 2.6.24-based (with some patches from Mandriva developers)
- Compiz 0.70
- XOrg 7.3
- OOo 2.4
- Many new application, including Elisa, AWN, Conduit
You can see all of them on their
Wiki page
